Type material. Holotype ♂ (IAvH 150253):“ Colombia, Bolivar , SFF Los Colorados, Alto el Mirador, 9°54'N 75°7'W, 400 m, Malaise, 03–18.vii.2001, E. Deulufeut, m.1951” GoogleMaps . Paratype: one ♂ (IAvH 150252), same data as holotype GoogleMaps .

Description of holotype, ♂. Body length: 1.4 mm; fore wing length: 1.3 mm.

Color. Yellowish brown. Antenna light yellow. Stemmaticum black, palpi white. Scutellum and parts of mesopleuron brown. Wings hyaline, stigma and venation whitish yellow. Fore and middle legs whitish yellow. Hind legs light yellow with basal third, tibial spurs and tarsi whitish. Metasoma with basal half of T1 yellowish brown, apical half of T1 and T2+3 white, remainder brown.

Head Length of head in dorsal view 0.6× its width. Antennae as long as the body; scape 2.5× longer than wide. Eye height 2.0× malar space. Entirely coriaceous except for face striate. Malar suture present.

Mesosoma. Mesoscutum coriaceous. Notauli absent. Propleuron smooth. Pronotum smooth with a rugose groove. Scutellar sulcus with 10 divisions, scutellum coriaceous. Mesoscutellar trough rugose-costate. Metanotum rugose. Mesopleuron weakly coriaceous anteriorly posteriorly smooth with sternaulus costate. Metapleuron strigate. Propodeum rugose medially, otherwise smooth; with distinct and complete areola extending over its entire length; transverse carina interrupted at areola.

Wings. Fore wing vein r absent; vein R1 0.65× stigma length; stigma 3.5× longer than high.

Legs. Hind tibial spurs about 0.25× hind tibia; hind tibia 5.4× longer than its maximum width. Mid coxa with wide transverse sulcus dorsally. All legs mostly punctate, all coxae smooth.

Metasoma. Entirely smooth.

Female. Unknown.

Diagnosis. This species is most similar to A. morretesiensis sp. n. by the absence of vein r on fore wing, and the hyaline wings. Adelius bolivariensis sp. n. is much lighter colored (mostly yellowish brown) as compared to A. morretesiensis (mostly dark brown). It also differs in having the transverse carina of propodeum clearly interrupted at the areola, whereas in A. morretesiensis the transverse propodeal carina is complete and not interrupted medially.

Biology. Unknown.

Distribution. Known only from the type locality.

Etymology. This species is named after the Colombian department of Bolivar where the types were collected.
