An Orientaland Palearctic species whose adults and nymphs have been found on Artiodactyla: Bovidaeand Cervidae; adult ticks alone have been recovered from Perissodactyla: Equidae, and Galliformes: Phasianidae; larvae have been found on Rodentia: Muridae. Haemaphysalis kitaokaiis a very rare parasite of humans.
