Gard.60: 831. 1974) originally proposed 779.1 (LINN), a Patrick Browne collection not received by Linnaeus until 1758, as type but it is ineligible. Wijnands'1983 choice of the Plukenet plate was rejected by Reveal (in Taxon41: 145. 1992) as it corresponded with Linnaeus'unnamed var. δ. Reveal argued that the name was based on a Plumier plate depicting  Amphitecna latifolia(Mill.) A.H. Gentry, and proposed the Linnaean name for conservation with the Browne specimen as conserved type. However, the Committee for Spermatophyta (in Taxon43: 274. 1994) ruled that Wijnands'type choice was valid, rendering Reveal'sproposal unnecessary. 2612072657 BM-SL 8 typotype
