Ross. 13: 109.   Amorbia exsectana; Powell et al., 1995, Atlas Neotropical Lepid., part 2: 148.  DIAGNOSIS.  Amorbia exsectanacan be distinguished from its congeners by its dorsal pit represented by a shallow indentation and by the absence of the costal fold in the male FW.  REDESCRIPTION. MALE. FW length 8.8–9.2 mm (mean = 9.0; n = 4). HEAD: Frons convex, naked. Vertex brownish, antenna brownish. Labial palpus brownish concolorous with head scaling laterally, inner surface paler; junction of segments II and III at an oblique angle. THORAX: Dorsum smooth scaled, brownish; tegula concolorous. FW ground light brown, basal, median and subterminal fasciae, including apex, dark brown. A band of darker scales from median fascia (at M2 position) reaching subterminal fascia towards apex. Costal fold absent. HW cream. ABDOMEN: Dorsal pit as a shallow indentation. Genitalia as in Fig. 82(slide # EPR43, VBC, Brazil, Río de Janeiro; n = 2). Uncus extending beyond socii. Transtilla rectangular, with spines in two groups. Sacculus well defined, 0.6X length of valva, extending beyond margin of valva. Aedeagus 0.8X length of valva, hook-shaped. FEMALE. FW length 10.0–11.0 mm (mean = 10.8; n = 3). HEAD and THORAX: As described for male. ABDOMEN: Genitalia as in Fig. 105(slide # EPR42, USNM, Panamá; n = 1). Lamella antevaginalis developed into lateral pockets, triangularly rounded anteriorly; median sinus rounded; rim of ostium sclerotized. Ductus seminalis arising at 0.2 length of ductus bursae from ostium. Busck, USNM).  BIOLOGY AND DISTRIBUTION.  Amorbia exsectanais known from Brazilto Panama(Fig. 136) from about 1000 to 1500 melevation. It has been collected in January, May, June, and October.
