The type locality of  X. caucasicusis situated near Teberda in the Northwest Caucasus; paratypeswere collected also near Dombai and in Artvin, Northeast Anatolia( BORDONI 1975). In the original description of  X. iablokoffi, which is based on a male holotypeand a male paratypefrom "Dombai, Koubans" (i.e., not far from the type locality of  X. caucasicus), COIFFAIT (1975)states that this species resembles  X. khnzoriani, except that the punctation of the head was finer and that of the elytra was denser and coarser. The holotypewas looked for, but not found, in the Khnzorian collection, where it should be deposited according to the original description. An examination of the typematerial of  X. khnzorianiand of additional material from numerous localities in the Caucasus and adjacent mountain ranges ( Russia, Georgia, Armenia), including the immediate vicinity of the typelocalities of both  X. caucasicusand  X. iablokoffi, revealed that the aedeagal characters are identical. The external characters, including the punctation of the head and of the elytra, are subject to some variation, as is usually the case with widespread  Xantholinusspecies.Consequently, there is little doubt that all three names refer to the same species, and  X. caucasicusand  X. iablokoffiare placed in synonymy with the senior name  X. khnzoriani. 2011-07-22 Assing Russia 1450 43.333332 Karachayevo-Cherkesskaya 1144 41.666668 6 241 4 2011-07-23 Assing Russia 2160 43.3 Dombai 1144 41.65 Karachayevo-Cherkesskaya 6 241 1 2011-07-24 Assing Russia 1250 43.483334 Teberda river 1143 41.75 Karachayevo-Cherkesskaya 6 241 2 2011-07-25 Assing Russia 1950 7 242 43.283333 Dombai 1144 41.633335 Karachayevo-Cherkesskaya 6 241 4 2011-07-27 Assing Russia Karachayevo-Cherkesskaya 2000 43.383335 Baduk river 1143 41.666668 Teberdinski 7 242 2 1992-08-31 Savitsky Russia 1500 Bol'shaya Laba river Karachayevo-Cherkesskaya 7 242 1 1998-08-28 Koval Russia 2350 Tshugush mountain range 7 242 1 Krasnodar 1992-07-26 Solodovnikov Russia 2200 Mt.
