However, an earlier arrival in Hondurasis possible. Cruz (1985)studied the biology of  M. salmoidesin the Lake of Yojoá and provided a synopsis of the introduction. Vaux (1985)collected  M. salmoidesin the Laguna de Yure which is adjacent to the Lake of Yojoá. The Yeguare River is a tributary of the Choluteca River which drains into the Gulf of Fonseca. Drainages: Pacific slope: Choluteca and Negro.   Remarks:The distribution of this fish was limited to the lower reaches of the Choluteca River. We collected this species in the Negro River (USM field number WAM08-18) near the community El Ojo de Agua, and in a second locality in the lower reaches of the Choluteca River (USM 31935) near the community of El Mal Paso on the road to Orocuina. Drainages: Pacific slope: Choluteca and Negro.   Remarks: Schmitter-Soto (2007)states that  A. centrarchusis found in drainages of the Gulf of Fonseca.  A. centrarchushas been reported in Hondurasonly in two Gulf of Fonseca drainages, the Negro and Choluteca Rivers ( Cruz & Espinal, 1989), but there is no evidence of its occurrence in the Nacaome and Goascorán Rivers.   Archocentrus multispinosus(Günther, 1867). Pacific slope: Choluteca and Negro.  Remarks: Schmitter-Soto (2007)found the northernmost limit of this species on the Pacific slope of Central Americain the Guasaule River in Nicaragua. We collected this species in the Negro River (USM field number WAM08-20) and the Choluteca River (USM 31494). We collected  C. cutteriin the HonduranPacific slope (USM field number WAM08-43; Choluteca River basin, Valle de Zamorano). Drainage: Atlantic slope: Coco.  Remarks:The northern most reported boundary of  H. nicaraguensisis a locality in the Nicaraguan side of the Coco River bordering Honduras( Schmitter-Soto, 2007). During this project  H. nicaraguensiswas colleted in the Rus Rus River on the Honduranside of the Coco River (USM field numbers WAM08-05 and WAM08-08).
