See Johnson and Lanyon, 1999;  Dickinson, 2003: 772; Eaton, 2006;  Schulenberg et al., 2010: 628; and  Fraga, 2011: 797.    HOLOTYPE:  AMNH 789778, adult male, collected at 15 kmnorth-northeast of Tingo María, 4 kmnorth of the Tulumayo River, and ca. 2 kmnorthwest of Pumahuasi, ca.  2150 ft, ca. 09.04S, 75.40W( Stephens and Traylor, 1983), Huánuco, Peru, on  17 August 1968, by Lester L. Short(no. 2999).   COMMENTS: The AMNHnumber of the holotypewas cited in the original description. The type series comprised two specimens; the second specimen, the paratype, is  AMNH 789779, female, collected on the same day at the type locality. In the original description, Short designated this bird an allotypeof  xanthophthalmus. According to the Code ( ICZN, 1999: 75), ‘‘The term ‘allotype’ may be used to indicate a specimen of opposite sex to the holotype; an ‘allotype’ has no namebearing function.’’ In addition to  Agelaius, this species has been included in the genera  Chrysomus( Dickinson, 2003: 772)and  Agelasticus( Fraga, 2011: 797). 3059738392 1968-08-17 AMNH Lester L.
