<spm:hasContent>  Etymology. The name of this species honors the Yanomami people, whose territory encompasses the typelocality in Serra do Aracá State Park. The name is to be regarded as a noun in apposition.  Diagnostic characters. This species differs from other extant Neotropical  Corethrellaby the following combination of characters: Adult female: body with medium to dark brown coloration, legs without any well-defined pigmentation pattern (hind tibia slightly darker apically and hind femur slightly less pigmented distally), a midlength wing band, a long coronal suture, reaching the ventral margin of the eye bridge and a square clypeus with one seta on dorsal surface.</spm:hasContent>

<spm:hasContent>  Description. Adult female(n=1). ( Tables 1, 2, Fig. 9)  Head( Fig. 9A). Broad in anterior view. Coronal suture elongate, reaching ventral margin of eye bridge. Two thick setae on frons. Palpus ( Fig. 9C) medium brown, same color as head, with third palpal segment a little expanded at midlength. Clypeus ( Fig. 9D) square, with one seta. Antenna ( Fig. 9E) uniformly pigmented, with 13th flagellomere apically bifurcated. Sensilla coeloconica distributed according to table 1.  Thorax( Fig. 9B). Medium to dark brown. Prescutal suture elongate, reaching dorsocentral row of setae. Posterior portion of dorsocentral row with a group of six setae. Anterior anepisternum divided longitudinally by a senoidal suture, posterior anepisternum divided by a diagonal suture, forming a triangle on inferior portion with a thick margin. Anepimeron with five setae.  Wings( Fig. 9F). Slender scales over the veins. A discrete midlength band present. Apex of R 1basal to apex of M 1. Halter as dark as scutellum.  Legs( Fig. 9B). Uniformly medium to dark brown, except for apical third of hind femur, slightly lighter and apex of hind tibia slightly darker. Lacking scales. Tarsal claws equal, inserted apically. Empodia (as in  C. cambirela sp. n., fig. 7C) with similar thickness to the apical setae of last tarsomeres, length similar to average diameter of last tarsomeres and with three bifid branches.  Abdomen( Fig. 9G). Uniformly medium brown, with darker segments 8–9 and cerci.  Male and Immatures.Unknown.</spm:hasContent>

<spm:hasContent>  Distribution and biology. This species is known from a single female specimen collected with a light trap in Barcelos municipality, Amazonas state. Aracá State Park is located in a mountainous region of Amazon forest, the Tepuis, near the Brazilian border with Venezuela.  Taxonomic discussion. The phylogenetic position of  C. yanomami sp. n.is uncertain. The presence of only one seta on the anterior face of the clypeus and a group of three or more setae on the posterior portion of the dorsocentral are synapomorphies of the apical lineages of phylogeny, such as fulva, appendiculata, quadrivittata, brakeleyi, and wirthigroups. Synapomorphies supporting internal clades within these lineages are either found in males and immatures (which are unknown for  C. yanomami sp. n.) or  C. yanomami sp. n.possesses the plesiomorphic condition, negating further resolution at the present time.</spm:hasContent>
