Type material. Holotype: Male, 24 August 2020, Naedeok-ri, Sangdong-eup, Yeongwol-gun, Gangwon-do, Korea( 37°06'58" N, 128°45'00.5" E, alt. 344 m), leg. S. T. Kim ( NIBR-QKVWIV0000000034), Paratypes: 6 males, same data as holotype, leg. S. T. Kim ( NIBR-QKVWIV0000000037–42); 2 males, same data as holotype, leg. S. T. Kim (KKU-LEI-Ara20200824- CY001–2).
Etymology.The species name is derived from the typelocality, Yeongwol-gun.
Diagnosis.The new species is most similar to Cybaeus culter sp. nov.in the shape of the palpal organ and body appearance, but can be easily distinguished from the latter by the number of peg setae on the PA, the shape of the RTA, and the number and size of the retromarginal teeth: males of C. yeongwolensishave 21 peg setae on the PA ( Fig. 1H), a slightly anteriorly protruding RTA in ventral view ( Fig. 1E), and 4 small and 4 large retromarginal teeth ( Fig. 1B), versus13 peg setae ( Fig. 2H), a strongly anteriorly protruding RTA ( Fig. 2E), and 3 small and 4 large retromarginal teeth ( Fig. 2B) in C. culter. In addition, leg spination on the femur, tibia and metatarsus differs between the two species ( Table 1).
Description. Male holotype. Total length 4.13. Carapace: 2.24 long / 1.67 wide, dusky blackish brown, head region darker than thoracic region, oval, cervical and radial furrows distinct, longitudinal fovea needle-shaped, head region slightly elevated ( Fig. 1A). Eyes: AER 0.40, PER 0.58, AME 0.04, ALE 0.11, PME 0.06, PLE 0.10, AME-AME 0.05, AME-ALE 0.04, PME-PME 0.13, PME-PLE 0.08, AME-PME 0.10, ALE-PLE 0.05, all eyes on slightly raised eye tubercles, eye region infuscate, AER slightly recurved and PER almost straight from above. Chelicera: 0.61 long / 0.31 wide, pale blackish brown with 3 promarginal teeth and 8 retromarginal teeth (4 small and 4 large) ( Fig. 1B), lateral condyle present. Endite: 0.58 long / 0.33 wide, pale blackish brown. Labium: 0.27 long / 0.30 wide, pale blackish brown. Sternum: 1.00 long / 0.99 wide, pale blackish brown, subcordate, convex, posterior end pointed protruding slightly between the coxae of leg IV ( Fig. 1C). Legs: I 7.85 (1.97, 0.78, 2.10, 1.82, 1.18) / II 5.94 (1.22, 0.72, 1.53, 1.47, 1.00) / III 5.33 (1.50, 0.65, 1.00, 1.33, 0.85) / IV 7.66 (1.80, 0.63, 2.25, 1.87, 1.11), leg formula I-IV-II-III, thick yellowish brown, robust and strongly developed, no annuli, leg supination in Table 1. Abdomen: 1.85 long / 1.51 wide, dark blackish brown, ovoid, two pairs of pale spots and five chevrons on dorsum, densely clothed with short blackish brown hair ( Fig. 1A). Palp: 2.60 (0.89, 0.38, 0.30, -, 1.03), tibia shorter than patella, PA blunt and protrudent 21 peg setae ( Fig. 1H), RTA modified long and moderately shallow, slightly protrudent anteriorly in ventral view, embolus long and slender, shorter than conductor, conductor banana-shaped with pointed PCo, embolus parallel and slightly separated from the margin of conductor, almost close to the PCo ( Figs. 1D–G).
Distribution. Korea(Naedeok-ri, Yeongwol-gun, Gangwon-do). Only known from the typelocality.
Remarks.The specimens of Cybaeus yeongwolensiswere collected in a pitfall trap in leaf litter along the roadside of a hilly mixed forest (alt. 344 m).
