Seven new South American species of Regalana DeLong & Freytag (Cicadellidae: Iassinae: Gyponini) Domahovski, Alexandre Cruz Gonçalves, Clayton Corrêa Takiya, Daniela Maeda Cavichioli, Rodney Ramiro Zootaxa 2014 3857 2 225 243 8JYQ7 [151,354,476,502] Insecta Cicadellidae Regalana Animalia Hemiptera 3 228 Arthropoda species bobbyi sp. nov.   Diagnosis.Male pygofer (Fig. 9) with posterior margin acute. Style (Figs 11, 12) with ventral margin not serrated. Aedeagus (Figs 13─15) shaft with two pairs of lateral processes on apical half, basal ones more elongate and slender; apex with four pairs of processes: lateroventral process (LV) flattened, directed laterally, and with spiniform projections.   Measurements (mm). Holotypemale: total length 6.15.  Coloration.Male sternite VIII (Fig. 8) posterior margin with brown triangular macula covering about posterior two-thirds.  External morphology.Head ( Fig. 4) with transocular width about 5/6 of pronotum humeral width. Clypeus (Fig. 5) about as long as wide; apical margin straight. Forewing (Fig. 7) approximately 3.4 times longer than wide.  Male terminalia.Sternite VIII (Fig. 8) with lateral margins convex; posterior margin broadly convex. Pygofer (Fig. 9) with posterodorsal margin near rectilinear and folding inwardly; posteroventral margin slightly convex; apex acute. Valve, in ventral view, about as wide as long; lateral margins convergent posteriorly; posterior margin slightly concave. Subgenital plate (Figs 9, 10) widest at midlength. Connective (Fig. 11) with rami slightly longer than stem; apex slightly concave. Style (Figs 11, 12) apical portion with ventral margin smooth, not serrated. Aedeagus (Figs 13─15) shaft tubular, elongated, and curved dorsally, lateral margins with pair of long and slender processes with one or two preapical teeth near mid-length and a pair of short and spiniform processes at apical third; apex with four pairs of processes: anteromedian (AM) spiniform on posterior surface, anterolateral (AL) long, slender, directed anteriorly, and each parallel and distant from other for over their own length in dorsal view, laterodorsal (LD) directed dorsally and originating from LV, lateroventral (LV) flattened, expanded, directed laterally, and with two or three spiniform projections curved dorsally. Female unknown.   Etymology. The new species name alludes to Bobby, the barbarian, one of the protagonists of the TV series Dungeons & Dragons.   Material examined. Holotypemale, “ Ecuador: Orellana, Tiputini\ Biodiversity Station\ nr Yasuni National Park\ Erwin Transect - T/2220-\ 250m”, “ 9-ii-1999\ 00°37'55"S 076°08'39"W\ T.L. Erwin et al Fogging\ terra firme forest”, EPCN.  Notes.  Regalana bobbyi  sp. nov.is one of the smallest species of the genus. It can be easily separated from other  Regalanaspecies by the diagnostic characters above, especially the aedeagus shaft with pair of long and slender lateral processes and the unique apical LV processes (Fig. 14), which are expanded and directed laterally. The new species was collected by insecticidal fogging in a lowland unflooded Amazonian Rainforest.
