COMMENT: Formerly included as a subgenus of Rattus , with representatives from Malaya, Borneo, and Sulawesi, as well as the Philippines, by Misonne, 1969, Ann. Mus . R. Afr. Cent. Tervuren, ser. 8, Sci. Zool., 172:140- 142; but see Musser, 1981, Bull. Am. Mus . Nat.
