4 Salamandra salamandra gigliolii View in CoL - The Apennine populations (usually considered S. s. gigliolii), between the eastern Liguria and Campania, are introgressed, with a geographic discordance exceeding 600 km between groups identified with mtDNA and nuDNA. “Pure” populations of S. s. salamandra inhabit the Alps and western Liguria, while “pure” S. s. gigliolii are confined to Calabria (Bisconti et al., 2018).
