Holotype male with labels: (1) printed with handwritten inscriptions on white label: “ ES III 4.3 / 76.7.4 afternoon / collector:”; (2) handwritten on white label: “ Pegohylemyia / caligotypa / sp.n.”; (3) handwritten on white label: “ Qinghai Menyuan / 1976.VII.4 collector Ya Wu ”; (4) printed with handwritten inscriptions on red label: “ TYPE / Botanophila / caligotypa / (Zheng et Fan) ”.

Preservation: pinned; specimen mouldy; genitalia dissected and mounted on paper triangle.

Current name: Botanophila caligotypa ( Zheng & Fan, 1992).
