Type Locality: Mexico, Yucatán, Tunkás.
Vernacular Names: Big-eared Climbing Rat.
Synonyms: Ototylomys affinis Laurie 1953 ; Ototylomys australis Osgood 1931 ; Ototylomys brevirostris Laurie 1953 ; Ototylomys connectens Sanborn 1935 ; Ototylomys fumeus J. A. Allen 1908 ; Ototylomys guatemalae Thomas 1909 ; Ototylomys phaeus Merriam 1901 .
Distribution: C Costa Rica north to Yucatán Peninsula, S Tabasco, and N Chiapas, Mexico; isolated record from NC Guerrero, Mexico.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
