Callibaetis (Abaetetuba) fasciatus View in CoL . – Cruz et al., 2017: 147 View Cited Treatment (transfer and designation as type species of the subgenus Abaetetuba).
Accepted name: Callibaetis (Abaetetuba) fasciatus (F.- J. Pictet, 1843) View in CoL
Locus typicus: “ … provient du Brésil ” [ Ipanema , Sao Paulo; 23°26’S 47°36’W] GoogleMaps .
Type material: NMW; holotype [by monotypy], ♀ imago; Natt[erer]: Brasi.: Ypanema / N[atterer]. c[ollectio]. Y[panema]. [on blue paper] / Callibaetis fasciatus Pict. [Ulmer’s handwriting] / Pictet vidit. GoogleMaps
Remarks: Damaged (most legs, left hind wing and right cercus missing). The holotype was already in bad condition when F.-J. Pictet described it. Ulmer (1921: 246) quoted the label incompletely (and probably misred “N.c.Y.” for “No. 31”) when he provided a complete redescription of the specimen and confirmed Eaton’s (1885) assignment to the Panamerican genus Callibaetis Eaton, 1881 . Johann Natterer collected in Brasil during 1817-1835 and stayed several times at Ipanema (1819- 1822; see Vanzolini, 1993).
