Type Locality: Venezuela, Mérida, Las Vegas del Chama, 1400 m.
Vernacular Names: Merida Rhipidomys.
Distribution: Isolated populations in mountains of W and N Venezuela.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: R. fulviventer section sensu Tribe (1996). Placed as a subspecies of R. latimanus by Cabrera (1961) but distinct from the latimanus and venezuelae complex in Venezuela ( Handley, 1976; Tribe, 1996); or placed as a subspecies if R. fulviventer by Tribe (1996).
