Euspilotus Lewis, 1907: 320. Type species Euspilotus zonalis Lewis, 1907, original designation.
Distribution.
This species-rich genus with 76 described species is distributed across North, Central and South America ( Mazur 2011), with one species known also from the Palaearctic and one from Oriental Region, respectively. In the Australopacific Region we report only one introduced species, E. (Neosaprinus) rubriculus (Marseul, 1855) represented in collections by several old specimens presumably collected from New Zealand and Australia.
