Discussion: Does not include Anthorhina , a name that is actually a junior synonym of Tonatia (see Gardner and Ferrell [1990] and Article 67.8 of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature [ International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature, 1999]) despite its frequent use as a subgenus of Mimon following Handley (1960). The nominate subgenus of Mimon includes bennettii and cozumelae ; the other subgenus (formerly called Anthorhina ) includes crenulatum and koepckeae , but there is presently no valid name for this subgenus.
