TYPE LOCALITY: "capturé sur la côte nord-est de la Nouvelle-Zélande." (= New Zealand, North coast) .

DISTRIBUTION: New Zealand: coastal waters. Harrison's (1960) reference to the occurence of this species around Sarawak is undocumented by specimens or photos.

STATUS: CITES - Appendix II; IUCN - Vulnerable.

SYNONYMS: albifrons .
