TYPE LOCALITY: "from the northeast shore of Punta San Felipe, Baja California Norte, Gulf of California, Mexico " .

DISTRIBUTION: North Pacific: warm-temperate waters; northern Gulf of California ( Mexico); erroneously reported from the S Gulf of California, including Très Marlas Isis and N Jalisco (Brownell, 1986).

STATUS: CITES - Appendix I; U.S. ESA and IUCN - Endangered.
