Homotypic synonyms: — Cestichis insectifera (Ridl.) M.A.Clem. & D.L.Jones in Jones & Clements (2005: 40); Stichorkis insectifera (Ridl.) Marg., Szlach. & Kułak in Szlachetko, Margońska & Kułak (2008: 38).

Type: — New Guinea ( INDONESIA. New Guinea, Irian Jaya), the Central range of Snow Mountains (Nassau Range), along Utakwa River to Mt. Carstensz, Expedition of A.F.R. Wollanton, Camp XI to XIII, 8300 and 10500’, November 1913, C. Boden Kloss s.n. (lectotype BM! upper right hand specimens only, designated here, photo K!).

Heterotypic synonyms: — Liparis alpina Royen (1979: 700) syn. nov. (designated here); Cestichis alpina (Royen) M.A.Clem. & D.L.Jones in Jones & Clements (2005: 38).

Type:— PAPUA NEW GUINEA. Eastern Highlands District, Mount Wilhelm (Chimbu Subdistrict), lake area (between Lake Aunde and Pinde), on very wet, moss covered slopes in alpine grasslands, 3,355 -3,575 m, 20 June 1965, Expedition of the Rijksherbarium Leiden, van M.M.J. Balgooy 763 (holotype L 0061484!, isotype AMES 100769!).

Paratypes of L. alpina :— New Guinea ( PAPUA NEW GUINEA. Eastern Highlands District), Chimbu Subdistrict, Mount Wilhelm : E slope, on a steep seepage slope on alpine grassland, 3,560 m, 26 June 1959, 6th Archbold Expedition, L. J. Brass 30159 ( AMES 100770 About AMES !, L 0311145 !) ; near lake Arunde, E slope of Mount Wilhelm, on wet soil between rocks, 3,500 m, 24 July 1956, R. D. Hoogland & R. Pullen 5749 ( CANB, L 0311144 !), Pinda-Aunde Valley , subalpine tussock grassland, 3,355 m (11000’), 30 June 1966, L. K. Wade ANU 7316 View Materials ( CANB, L 0311143 !, LAE) .

Note: — L. insectifera and L. alpina are well represented at preserved collections. I compared detaily morphology of both species and without any doubt they are conspecific.
