Type:— COLOMBIA. Huila: Balsillas , forest at 2100-2200 m, 3-6 August 1917, H. H. Rusby & F. W. Pennell 706 (holotype: US 00433443, image!; isotypes: F0052592 F, image!; K000583511 , image!; MO2267477 , image!; NY00337251 , image!) .

Distribution.— Colombia.

Etymology.— The specific epithet was given in honor to María Natividad Sánchez de Stapf, a Panamanian botanist that comes studying Boraginaceae s.l. in the two last decades including studies in Brazil and Central America, especially focusing the taxonomy of Cordia Linnaeus (1753: 190) genus that currently it is positioned in Cordiaceae .
