Distribution.— Colombia, Venezuela.

Notes.— In the protologue of Tournefortia macrostachya, Rusby (1920: 106) mentions the collection H.H. Smith 1865, obtained in Colombia, but does not mention in which herbarium the aforementioned collection is deposited. Whereas the specimen with barcode NY00337245 housed in the NY herbarium, where Rusby worked for a long time, is the most complete with handwriting in the label stating that it is the type. For this reason, the material NY00337245 is designated here as the lectotype.
