Type: — COLOMBIA.“Crescit in ripa obumbrata fluminis Magdalenae, prope Tenerife”, s. dat., A. J. A. Bonpland & F. W. H. A. von Humboldt s.n. (holotype: P00136375 , image!) .

Distribution.— Colombia, Panamá, Costa Rica.

Etymology.— The specific epithet refers to the Department of Antioquía, the region of Colombia where the species was originally recorded.
