Entypus fulvicornis (Cresson) View in CoL

MISSOURI: Clinton County, Plattsburg; 1 September 2022, 1028 CDT; R. Tharp. Host: Rabidosa punctulata (Hentz) ( Lycosidae ), adult female. The wasp hung upside down from vegetation, grasping the immobilized wolf spider by its left chelicera with her mandibles ( Tharp 2022).

OHIO: Wyandot County, Harpster, Killdeer Plains Wildlife Area; 1317 EST; I. Adams. Host: Tigrosa helluo (Walckenaer) ( Lycosidae ), adult or subadult female. The wasp grasped the immobilized wolf spider by its right chelicera and, retaining this grasp, dragged it backwards through dense foliage ( Adams 2020).

Entypus fulvicornis View in CoL is usually host specific on large, cursorial-hunting and funnel-web weaving spiders belonging to the families Lycosidae View in CoL and, rarely, Pisauridae View in CoL and Agelenidae View in CoL ( Townes 1957; Krombein 1979; Kurczewski and Edwards 2012; Kurczewski et al. 2017, 2020, 2022). Rabidosa punctulata View in CoL and Tigrosa helluo View in CoL are new host lycosid species for E. fulvicornis View in CoL which often captures Rabidosa rabida (Walckenaer) View in CoL ( Kurczewski et al. 2017, 2020).
