LYMAENON Walker, 1846 View in CoL

( Figs 181–185 View FIGURES 181–183 View FIGURES 184, 185 )

Lymaenon Walker, 1846: 49 View in CoL . Type species: Lymaenon acuminatus Walker, 1846 View in CoL , by subsequent designation by Gahan & Fagan, 1923: 82. See Huber et al. (2020) for generic synonyms and their type species.

Diagnosis. Lymaenon is distinguished from the other genera of Gonatocerini by the following combination: ocellar triangle with 3 or, rarely, 4 setae between lateral ocelli ( Fig. 181b View FIGURES 181–183 ); pronotal lobes separated by a usually membranous gap ( Fig. 184 View FIGURES 184, 185 ); mesothoracic spiracle much larger than propodeal spiracle ( Fig. 184 View FIGURES 184, 185 ); dorsellum strap-like, with anterior and posterior margins parallel ( Fig. 184 View FIGURES 184, 185 ); stigmal vein with apex truncate ( Fig. 183 View FIGURES 181–183 ); propodeum with parallel or slightly converging submedian lines ( Fig. 184 View FIGURES 184, 185 ), often with spicules between them.

Remarks. Lymaenon belongs to the Gonatocerus group of genera, treated formally as Gonatocerini ( Huber 2015a) . The metanotum with straight and parallel anterior and posterior margins is characteristic though a few species of Cosmocomoidea have the metanotum narrow, with almost parallel anterior and posterior margins.

Neotropical hosts. Unknown.
