Remarks. According to Tavakilian & Chevillotte (2020) on O. latifrons : “ Oectropsis latifrons Blanchard, 1851 / Lectotype / Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle, Paris / CHILI / Illapel / 1849 / Gay.” The type specimen was also photographed in the MNHN by Jesus Santiago Moure as being a “ Lectotype.” According to Blanchard (1851) (translated): “This tiny species is found quite commonly in the vicinity of Illapel on the Huingan ( Duvaua dependens [currently, = Schinus polygamus (Cav.) Cabrera ]).” Although Blanchard (1851) gave the dimension of a single specimen (2 lines 1/3), it is evident, through the comment above that he had more than one specimen. Thus, a lectotype can be designated. However, we know of no work in which the designation has been effectively established.
The specimens described by Barriga & Cepeda (2005), agrees perfectly with the original description and photograph of the “ lectotype.”
Material examined. CHILE, no more data, 2 specimens ( MZSP) ; 2 specimens, 1922, no more data ( MZSP) . Coquimbo: Los Vilos , 5 specimens, 21.IX.1975, G. Arriagada col. ( MZSP) .
