The female, male, pupa, and mature larva of S. sheilae were reported from West Malaysia ( Takaoka and Davies 1995). The eight gill filaments are arranged in groups of 3 + 3 + 2 from dorsal to ventral ( Fig.3 View FIGURE 3 E). The larva is characterized by a deep postgenal cleft, which almost reaches the posterior margin of the hypostoma ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 C), and dark, delicate setae with 2­6 branches on abdominal segments V–VIII ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 G).

Five of 35 larvae were analyzed for major landmarks. The centromere region of chromosome I is not expanded. In the IIS arm, the ring of Balbiani is basal and the bulge subterminal ( Figure 1 View FIGURE 1 H).
