Differential Diagnosis. Among members of the rufulus group, P. striatus ( Fig. 25 View FIGURE 25 ) is similar to P. rufulus in the striateimpressed elytral series, but differs distinctively therefrom by the larger size (ca. 1.86 mm vs. 1.67 mm), the much more elongate elytra, the less angulate sides of the pronotum, and the color. The aedeagi of the two species are also quite distinct ( Figs. 28, 29 View FIGURES 26–29 ).

Description. Size (length/width, mm) holotype: body (length to elytral apices) 1.86/0.75; head 0.30/ 0.45; pronotum 0.38/0.53; elytra 1.21 /0.75. Head and pronotal disc piceous to dark brown, remainder of dorsum dark brown, maxillary palpi and legs brown, venter dark brown. Submentum and mentum microreticulate, dull, sparsely punctulate.

Head with labrum microreticulate, dull. Clypeus and frons microreticulate, dull, sparsely punctulate, punctures separated by about 1–3xpd, size about 1xef. Anteocellar sulci deep. Ocelli distinct.

Pronotum microreticulate, dull, cordate, widest in front of middle; anterior angles obtuse, posterior rectangular; sides finely margined, weakly crenulate; anterior margin shallowly arcuate over median 3/4, with narrow hyaline border; discal reliefs with punctures about 1xef, interstices about 1–3xpd; anteriorly and posteriorly punctures much larger, about 4xef; with impressions as follow: median anterior and posterior, very deeply confluent, forming median groove; a deep anterior and very large, deep oval posterior admedian; and a large anterior and smaller deep posterior adlateral on each side; foveae punctate, but not markedly; punctures on discal reliefs without discernible setae.

Elytra dull, noncarinate, series deeply striateimpressed, sides weakly arcuate, apices separately rounded; sutural apices slightly obtuse; sides smooth, weakly explanate; posterior declivity gradual. Serial punctures moderately large and deep, about 1xpd of largest pronotal punctures, interstices about 1xpd, or less; without granules. Intervals raised, width on disc about 1–2xpd. Most punctures without a discernible seta.

Metaventral disc rather flat, with midlongitudinal impression in basal 1/2. Thoracic ventrites and abdominal ventrites 1–5 clothed with dense setae except glabrous midlongitudinal prosternal ridge, glabrous dull mesoventral plaques and small glabrous shining inverted Vshaped basomedian area on metaventrite in front of intercoxal sternite. Ventrite 6 shining, with sparse setigerous punctures across distal 1/2.

Females with wide explanate elytral margin, continuing to and widest at sharply rounded posterior angles, apices truncate, conjointly forming line perpendicular to longitudinal axis of elytra.

Wings fully developed on holotype and all dissected males.

Aedeagus length ca. 0.41 mm, distal process 0.08; mainpiece markedly arcuate in proximal 1/2, lateral view; distal process short, wide apically ( Fig. 29 View FIGURES 26–29 ).

Etymology. Named in reference to the striateimpressed elytra.

Distribution. Currently known from Namaqualand in the Northern Cape Province ( Fig. 98 View FIGURES 97–100 ).
