Type locality. Parua, Whangarei Harbour.

Broun number: 559.

Type material examined. 1 ex. Holotype (NHM): card-mounted, “ Cyphanus \ medius .” [in Broun’s hand], “New Zealand. [red underline] \ Broun Coll. \ Brit. Mus. \ 1922-482.”, “Parua”, “559”, “HOLOTYPE” [round label with red margin].

Remarks. The only specimen was found by Broun (1880) in Parua, Whangarei Harbour.
