Type locality. Mount Arthur.

Broun number: 2028 (for C. flavescens ).

Lectotype (NHM, here validated): card-mounted, genitalia mounted on glass slide pinned together with the specimen, “LECTO- \ TYPE” [round label with blue border], “2028” [in Broun’s hand], “Mount \ Arthur.”, “New Zealand. [red underline] \ Broun Coll. \ Brit. Mus. \ 1922-482.”, “ Cyphon \ flavescens ” [in Broun’s hand], “Lectotype ♂ \ Cyphon flavescens \ Broun \ det. T. Nyholm 1982” [in Nyholm’s hand]. Paralectotype (NHM, here validated): card-mounted, genitalia mounted on glass slide pinned together with the specimen, “PARA- \ LECTO- \ TYPE” [round label with blue border], “2028” [in Broun’s hand], “Mount \ Arthur.” [in Broun’s hand], “New Zealand. Remarks. Broun (1893) examined four specimens collected from Mount Arthur. Pic (1913) proposed a new substitute name for Cyphon flavescens Broun , a homonym of Cyphon flavescens Motschulsky, 1858 .
