Mecistoscelis Reuter, 1891: 131 View in CoL ; Lansbury, 1963; Carvalho & Afonso, 1977: 822. Type species: Mecistoscelis scirtetoides Reuter, 1891 View in CoL .
Diagnosis. Recognized from other genera of Mecistoscelini by body narrowly elongated; head glabrous, projected
anteriorly; labium reaching hind coxae; calli glabrous, longitudinal length of pronotum as long as maximal width of
pronotum, ostiolar peritreme yellowish pale brown; commissure much longer than longitudinal length of scutellum ( Fig. 1A View FIGURE 1 ); abdomen reaching apex of cuneus ( Fig. 1C View FIGURE 1 ); genital segment much more elongated than apex of hemelytron in female ( Fig. 1D View FIGURE 1 ); left paramere with long setae ( Fig. 2A View FIGURE 2 ).
