The subspecies Notoscopelus elongatus kroyeri (Malm, 1861) , reported from the Azores and Madeira, should probably be considered as Notoscopelus kroyeri (Malm, 1861) . The specimen collected in 1969, at the south coast of Portugal, MNHN 1978-0444 , -8.8500º W, 36.4329º N, was identified as N. elongatus .
