Cladiopsocus salasarriorum n. sp. Male

Diagnosis. Belonging in species group “2”, subgroup 4, in the classification of Eertmoed (1986). Wings almost hyaline, with spots almost restricted to the veins, without spurveins ( Fig. 70 View FIGURES70–75 ). Epiproct with widened posterior projection and with rounded apical margin ( Fig. 73 View FIGURES70–75 ); paraproct elongate, paraproctal prong strongly hooked distally ( Fig. 74 View FIGURES70–75 ).

Color. Head ( Fig. 72 View FIGURES70–75 ) brown, vertex and front dark brown; postclypeus, anteclypeus, labrum, mandibles, labium and maxilla brown to pale brown. Compound eyes dark brown, ocelli hyaline in a dark brown area. Antennae and maxillary palps pale brown. Pronotum, mesonotum and metanotum brown, thoracic pleura and legs pale brown, tibia and tarsi dark brown. Forewing membrane hyaline ( Fig. 70 View FIGURES70–75 ); veins brown, with pale spots, brown spots along the wing margin. Hindwings hyaline, with veins pale brown ( Fig. 71 View FIGURES70–75 ). Abdomen pale brown, clunium and hypandrium pale brown; epiproct cream, paraprocts pale brown, paraproctal prong darker distally.

Morphology. As in diagnosis plus the following: head vertex emarginate, almost at the same level of the upper margin of the compound eyes ( Fig. 72 View FIGURES70–75 ); these large, with interommatidial setae. D is 0.57 the length of the head in front view; Forewings ( Fig. 70 View FIGURES70–75 ) without spur veins; membrane pterostigma with setae. Hypandrium semioval, broad, posterior margin emarginate, with medium sized setae and macrosetae. Phallosome narrow anteriorly, with anterior border straight, widened distally ( Fig. 75 View FIGURES70–75 ), external parameres rounded laterally; endophallic lobes broad, rounded apically, and touching each other along the midline, arms of internal parameres bow shaped, touching posteriorly at a point, in the midline. Epiproct pentagonal ( Fig. 73 View FIGURES70–75 ), with three macrosetae mesally and one near each postero-lateral corner, posterior setal field as illustrated. Paraprocts ( Fig. 74 View FIGURES70–75 ) elongate, with medium sized setae and few macrosetae as illustrated; mesal prong stout, strongly curved apically, hooked, sensory fields with 18 trichobothria on basal rosettes.

Measurements. FW: 2437, HW: 1900, f1: 450, f2: 325, f3: 275, Mx4: 170, IO: 200, D: 353, d: 240, IO/d: 0.83, PO: 0.68.

Specimens studied. Holotype male. COLOMBIA. Nariño. Santa Bárbara de Iscuandé, La Ensenada , 2° 37’41.4”N : 78°4’57.4”W, 5 m. 3–4.XII.2010. C. Salas & F. Sarria. Led light trap in forest canopy. MUSENUV slide code 2895. Paratypes: 2 males, same data as the holotype GoogleMaps .

Etymology. The specific epithet is a compound name, formed with the last names of its collectors, Cristian Salas and Fabio Sarria, to whom the species is dedicated.
