Cladiopsocus altamiraensis n. sp. Male

( Figs 1–7 View FIGURES 1–7 )

Diagnosis. Belonging in species group “2”, subgroup 3, in the classification of Eertmoed (1986). Second and third tarsomeres fused, paraproct tubercle reduced; wings hyaline, without spots and stubs as in C. domesticus , C. iscuande n. sp., C. pancheorum n. sp., and female of C. clarus Eertmoed. The shape of the phallosome ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1–7 ) and wings ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1–7 ) relate it to C. pancheorum and C. iscuande . Unlike these, it has the forewing A2 attached distally to A1 before the wing margin ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1–7 ).

Color. Head ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1–7 ) brown, vertex and front dark brown; anteclypeus, labrum, mandibles, labium and maxillary palps pale brown. Compound eyes dark brown, ocelli hyaline in a dark brown area. Antennae and maxillary palps pale brown. Pronotum pale brown, meso- and metanotum, brown, thoracic pleura pale brown. Coxae, trochanters and femora cream, tibiae and tarsi pale brown. Forewing membrane hyaline ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1–7 ); veins pale brown, without brown spots along the veins and at wing margin. Hindwings hyaline ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1–7 ). Abdomen pale brown to cream, incomplete abdominal segmental rings pale brown, clunium and hypandrium pale brown to cream, clunium with narrow anterior edge darker; phallosome brown; epiproct and paraprocts pale brown to cream, paraproctal prong darker proximally.

Morphology. As in diagnosis plus the following: head vertex emarginate, slightly below the upper margin of the compound eyes ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1–7 ); these large, with interommatidial setae. D is 0.57 the length of the head in front view; forewings ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1–7 ); membrane pterostigma with setae, without spur veins. Hypandrium semioval, crescent-shaped, broad, posterior margin rounded, with medium sized setae and macrosetae ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1–7 ). Phallosome arched, internal parameres united posteriorly; endophallic sclerites fused, tongue-shaped, widened distally; external parameres membranous, broad ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1–7 ). Epiproct trapeziform, posterior margin slightly rounded ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 1–7 ), with three macrosetae mesally and two near each postero-lateral corner, posterior setal field as illustrated. Paraprocts wide ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 1–7 ) with medium sized setae and macrosetae as illustrated; mesal prong short, little sclerotized, widened distally; sensory fields with 21 trichobothria on basal rosettes ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 1–7 ).
