scientific name

Pseudorhombila (Pilumnoplax) abyssicola Miers 1885: 588
status

Pseudorhombila (Pilumnoplax) abyssicola Miers 1885: 588 .

Pilumnoplax abyssicola Miers 1886: 228 , pl. XIX, fig. 2.

Remarks. Castro (2007: 628) listed Miers (1885: 588) in his synonym of Carcinoplax abyssicola but considered it a nomen nudum. This is not the case as Miers (1885: 558) stated “...together with Pseudorhombila (Pilumnoplax) abyssicola , n. sp., a species with nearly glabrous carapace, straight entire front, and three antero-lateral marginal teeth, of which the two last only are spiniform and acute, ...”. Although the Narrative description by Miers was brief, it made the species name available.

Valid as Carcinoplax abyssicola (Miers, 1885) .
