Augochloropsis (Glyptochlora) atrocyanea sp. nov.

( Figs. 1A, D View FIGURE 1 ; 2A View FIGURE 2 ; 4C View FIGURE 4 ; 6 View FIGURE 6 )

Diagnosis. This new species can be separated from the remaining A. ( Glyptochlora ) by its unusual body coloration, deep dark blue with lower parocular area green (green body coloration in A. ornata or coppery body coloration in A. peruviana sp.nov. and A. ticuna sp. nov. with red lower parocular area). Additional morphological characters useful to distinguish this species: pronotal lobe not expanded, forming an obtuse-angle, dorso-lateral angle not notched, produced as an obtuse-angle corner; wings with hyaline membrane, apical margin darker; propodeal lateral expansion with sinuous or irregular margin; area adjacent to metapostnotum with four large conspicuous punctures; marginal zone of T2 and T3 with close fine punctures extending to distal margin.

Comments. Species known from a single female collected in eastern Amazonia, in the state of Pará ( Brazil).

Description. Holotype ♀. Measurements. Head width: 2.88; head length: 1.58; clypeus width: 1.52; clypeus length: 0.76; eye notch width: 0.66; supraclypeal length: 0.46; alveolo-ocellar distance: 0.69; intertegular distance: 1.91; T1 maximum width: 3.43; T2 maximum width: 3.53; body length: 8.96.

Color. Mandible black, apically reddish. Lower parocular area green with coppery reflections near to antennal sockets. Frons blue, differing from the remainder green head in frontal view. Supraclypeal area green, apical third coppery. Clypeus green with coppery reflections and apical triangular black spot. Genal area blue. Scape black. Flagellum brown. Mesoscutum, scutellum and metanotum blue. Tegula black. Meso- and metepisternum blue. Propodeum blue; metapostnotum concolor with propodeum. Fore wing with hyaline membrane; apical margin darker; pterostigma and venation brown. Hind wing with hyaline membrane; apical margin iridescent. Legs brown; tarsi brown; tibia with blue reflections on external surface; hind tibial spur yellow. T1–T4 bright bluish black. Marginal zone black in T1 and T2, blue in T3 and T4. Exposed dorsal surface of T5 and pseudopygidial area black. S1–S4 dark blue. S5 and S6 brown. Pubescence. Body mostly covered by pale yellowish pubescence. Mandible, dorsal margin with yellow bristles. Clypeus, apical margin with row of long (2–2.5 OD) yellow bristles, surface covered by shorter yellow setae. Supraclypeal area with dense, long, yellow setae; apical third with shorter scattered setae. Lower parocular area with long (1–1.5 OD) yellow setae. Frons with minutely black setae. Vertex with long (1.5–2 OD) dark setae, very conspicuous in occipital area. Postgena with very long (1.5–3.5 OD), scarce, yellow setae. Scape with very short (≤1 OD) yellow setae in the basal region, shorter and darker bristles towards the distal region. Flagellomeres F1–F10 setose, with white sensilla. Pronotal lobe with dark setae. Mesoscutum with short (=1 OD), scarce, dark bristles. Scutellum covered by yellow setae very conspicuous on lateral surfaces, centrally with erect, long (2–2.5 OD), dark setae; intermixed with more erect, longer (3–4 OD), dark bristles. Metanotum covered by yellow tomentose setae, intermixed with erect, long (1.5–2 OD), dark setae. Mesepisternum with inconspicuous yellow setae. Propodeum lateral surface covered by yellow tomentose setae, intermixed with longer (1–1.5 OD), yellow setae; posterior vertical surface with short (1–1.5 OD), erect, yellow setae; metapostnotum glabrous. Fore wing with sparse and black microtrichia. Fore and mid leg: coxa, trochanter and femur with very long (2.5–3 OD) yellow setae, shorter setae (1.5–2 OD) on mid leg, internal margin glabrous; mesofemoral brush yellow; dark bristles on the external surface of tibia and tarsus, denser yellow bristles on inner surface. Hind leg: coxa and trochanter with short white setae; femur and tibia with long, plumose, yellow setae, forming a scopa; external margin of tibia with erect, short (1–1.5 OD) dark bristles; basitarsus with white bristles; both with denser yellow bristles on inner surface. T1, anterior margin with short (1–1.5 OD) yellow setae, laterally glabrous; dorsal surface with scattered, minute, white bristles.T2–T4 dorsal surface covered by scattered, minute, white bristles; laterally with a tuft of white setae.Marginal zone glabrous in T1–T4. Exposed surface of T5 and pseudopygidial area covered by yellow and dark bristles. S1 with long yellow setae medially. S2–S6 with long, dense, white setae, recurved apically. Sculpture. Clypeus punctate, imbricate-punctate on basal and on lateral margins; foveate distally. Supraclypeal area with contiguous very coarse punctures; close very coarse punctures in the apical third, integument smooth in between. Frons with contiguous very coarse punctures. Mesoscutum, scutellum and metanotum foveate. Propodeum with smooth integument on lateral angle; area adjacent to metapostnotum smooth and with four scattered large conspicuous punctures; posterior vertical surface with contiguously very coarse punctures. Metasoma with inconspicuous punctures; dorsal surface of T1–T3 with sparse fine punctures, integument micropunctate in between; open coarse punctures on lateral surfaces in T1; gradulus slightly excavated on T2. Exposed dorsal surface of T4 with sparse fine punctures. Marginal zone with close fine punctures in T1–T4, punctures extending to the distal margin. S2–S5 with contiguous coarse punctures and substrigulate surfaces. Structure. Apex of clypeus weakly prolonged over apical border. Hypostomal ridge carinate, not projected onto a sheet anteriorly. Pronotum with dorsal ridge lamellate (<1 TW) and straight; dorso-lateral angle not notched; lateral ridge not projected; pronotal lobe not expanded. Propodeum with lateral expansions without definite shape, with sinuous and irregular margin. Hind tibial spur pectinate, 6 teeth in both right and left spurs; broadened at base. T1 with dorso-lateral line excavated and strongly elevated. Pygidial plate long, apex strongly emarginated medially.

Etymology. The specific name atrocyanea is formed from the Latin adjectives âter (“gloomy”) and cyaneus (dark-blue), in reference to the deep dull blue body color of the holotype.

Distribution. The species is known from the Brazilian state of Pará ( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 ).
