Augochloropsis (Glyptochlora) Moure

Augochloropsis (Glyptochlora) Moure 1958: 188 .

Type species: Megalopta ornata Smith 1879: 49 , original designation.

Diagnosis. Augochloropsis (Glyptochlora) is currently composed by four species, A. ornata and three new species, A. atrocyanea n. sp., A. peruviana n. sp., and A. ticuna n. sp. Females of Augochloropsis (Glyptochlora) are readily diagnosable by the vertex extremely short (<1 OD) and strongly angulate, forming a post-ocellar transverse ridge strongly elevate in frontal view. Pronotal lobe strongly depressed, forming a deep concavity. Tegula oval, with posterior internal margin weakly notched, not producing a posterior tooth and entirely microtessellate posteriorly, centrally smooth. Mesoscutum foveate ( Fig. 1B View FIGURE 1 ), with sinuous elevations in lateral view ( Fig. 3A View FIGURE 3 , blue arrow); anterior margin strongly projected on the pronotum and lamellate, this lamella strongly emarginated medially forming a bilobed structure (see Mam in figure 19D in Celis & Cure 2017); lateral regions lowered and parapsidal lines strongly elevated. Axillary crest on scutellum polished and with margin strongly elevate in lateral view, near to mesoscutum. Metanotum with acute posterior margin ( Fig. 3C–D View FIGURE 3 , yellow arrow). Mesepisternum slightly projected onto a sheet ventrally, near to mid coxa. Propodeum with lateral angles acute and lateral expansions, both structures carinated ( Fig. 3C–D View FIGURE 3 , red arrow); posterior vertical surface strongly excavated. Metapostnotum with strong central ridge. T1 with dorso-lateral line and anterior margin flattened, apparently straight in dorsal view. T1–T4 with marginal zone glabrous, wide (reaching half of the tergum), not depressed and finely punctate. Dorsal surface of T1–T4 apparently glabrous, with scarce, very short minute setae; semierect, white or dark conspicuous bristles close to the marginal zone on T3 and T4 ( Fig. 4D View FIGURE 4 , yellow arrow); T1 and T2 without vibrissae. Male unknown.

Identification key to the species of Augochloropsis (Glyptochlora)

This key includes characteristics only of females, the only sex currently known for the subgenus.

1. Propodeal lateral expansion with sinuous or irregular margin ( Fig. 1A View FIGURE 1 ), surface with smooth integument and four large punctures well-distributed on the metapostnotum perimeter ( Fig. 1A View FIGURE 1 ). Wings with hyaline translucent membrane. Pronotal lobe not expanded, forming an obtuse angle ( Fig. 2A View FIGURE 2 , red arrow). Marginal zone of T2 and T3 with close fine punctures extending to distal margin ( Fig. 4C View FIGURE 4 , red arrows). Blue bees with lower parocular area green ( Fig. 6B View FIGURE 6 ).................................................................................................... Augochloropsis atrocyanea n. sp.

- Propodeal lateral expansion usually with straight and regular margin ( Fig. 2D View FIGURE 2 , red arrow; Figs. 3C–D View FIGURE 3 , red arrows), surface with reticulate integument and with 1–3, very coarse punctures, placement of punctures varying ( Figs. 2E–F View FIGURE 2 ). Wings with yellowish hyaline membrane. Pronotal lobe expanded, forming a more acute angle ( Figs. 2B–C View FIGURE 2 , red arrows). Marginal zone of T2 and/or T3 with close fine punctures not extending to distal margin and with evident distal smooth stripe ( Fig. 4D View FIGURE 4 , red arrow). Green or coppery bees with lower parocular area red ( Fig. 5B View FIGURE 5 )......................................................... 2

2(1). Green bees. Pronotum with dorsal ridge without notch ( Fig. 2A View FIGURE 2 ). Propodeum with the most basal margin of the lateral expansions concave and continuous with the margin of the distal region expansion ( Fig. 2D View FIGURE 2 , red arrow). Anterior margin of T1 with dorso-lateral line slightly elevated ( Fig. 2I View FIGURE 2 , red arrow), open coarse punctures on lateral surfaces ( Fig. 4B View FIGURE 4 , red arrow). Body pubescence mostly whitish................................................ Augochloropsis ornata (Smith) View in CoL

- Mostly coppery bees. Pronotum with dorsal ridge slightly notched, produced as a weak acute corner ( Fig. 2B View FIGURE 2 ). Propodeum with the most basal margin of the lateral expansions straight or convex and discontinuous with the margin of the distal region expansion ( Figs. 2E–F View FIGURE 2 ).Anterior margin of T1 with dorso-lateral line strongly excavated and elevated ( Figs. 2G–H View FIGURE 2 , red arrows), close very coarse punctures on lateral surfaces ( Fig. 4A View FIGURE 4 , red arrow). Body pubescence mostly pale yellow............... 3

3(2). Lateral ridge of pronotum with a strongly steep inclination, forming a strong acute distal tip, produced and projected forward in lateral view ( Fig. 3A View FIGURE 3 , red arrow). Lower parocular area, supraclypeal area, clypeus and mesepisternum with dark setae; hind basitarsus with thick dark bristles. Propodeal lateral expansion with basal margin straight ( Fig. 2E View FIGURE 2 , red arrow), and with rounded semicircular format ( Fig. 3C View FIGURE 3 , red arrow). Dorsal surface of terga black, with dull micropunctate integument, marginal zone green................................................................. Augochloropsis peruviana n. sp.

- Lateral ridge of pronotum with a weakly steep surface, without acute distal tip ( Fig. 3B View FIGURE 3 , red arrow). Lower parocular area, supraclypeal area, clypeus and mesepisternum with pale pubescence; hind basitarsus with thick yellowish bristles Propodeal lateral expansion with basal margin convex ( Fig. 2F View FIGURE 2 , red arrow), and with angulated format ( Fig. 3D View FIGURE 3 , red arrow). Dorsal surface of terga mostly coppery, with shiny smooth integument, marginal zone coppery............. Augochloropsis ticuna n. sp.
