Andrena popovi Osytshnjuk, 1985: 19 (♀), 21 (♂), figs 1–6.

Type locality: Imeni Turara Ryskulova (Turkestan Province, Kazakhstan].

Holotype: ♀, Южн.[ый] КаЗахстан, 70 км В Чимкента, окр.[есности] Ванновки [ Kazakhstan, Turkestan Province , Imeni Turara Ryskulova, 42°32′N 70°21′E], луг [meadow], 1.V.1982, сб.[орЩик] Белокобыльский [S. Current status. Andrena (incertae sedis) popovi Osytshnjuk, 1985 .

Remark. In the original description Osytshnjuk (1985: 19) noted on similarity of Andrena popovi with A. mucida Kriechbaumer, 1873 and placed it in the subgenus Didonia Gribodo, 1894 , which was found polyphyletic later ( Dubitzky et al. 2010: 162; Pisanty et al. 2022: 13). Several species, previously included in Didonia , were placed by Dubitzky et al. (2010: 166) in newly established subgenus Hamandrena , based on synapomorphy “posteriorly bent, hook shaped bristles on the galeal blade, stipes and prementum in females”. Andrena popovi was not studied by Dubitzky et al. (2010) and was not listed among the species included in Hamandrena . However, the galea of A. popovi has weak and slightly curved bristles at the margins on the distal half ( Fig. 28b ), and the species structurally corresponds to the subgenus Euandrena rather than Hamandrena . Thus, the subgeneric position of Andrena popovi remains uncertain and it should be considered as incertae sedis.

Distribution. Kazakhstan, Tajikistan.
