Redescription. Body brownish. Head and pronotum a little darker, pronotum with pitchy posterior margin. Antennae, mandibles and legs dark yellow. Abdominal tergites II – VI each with posterior segmental membranes usually exposed, so in dorsal view 5 obvious stripes visible on abdomen. Length [average] male, 3.5 mm; female, 3.7 mm.

Male. Head ( Fig. 7A) subpentagonal, widest at eyes. Disc densely punctate, not pubescent. Clypeus subrectangular and not protruding, flat, almost 1/4 head length, surface impunctate and coriaceous, with anterior margin truncate and a little broadly rounded. Epistomal suture with lateral portions curved and running posteriorly. Vertex weakly convex, definitely distinguished from neck by middle portion of occipital suture, with midlongitudinal suture distinct. Eyes with coarse facets, convex and protruding laterally, over twice as long as temples. Temples lightly dilated. Occipital suture arc-shaped in dorsal view; nuchal ridge present in middle but obsolete, dorsal basal ridge absent.

Mandible ( Fig. 7C) slightly curved; two denticles on inner edge near middle and near apex each. Antenna (type I) a little shorter than or equal to head and pronotum together, with apical antennomere longer than preceding one.

Pronotum transverse, broadest at near anterior 1/3, almost equal to head. Disc punctate and 3-sulcate (as Fig. 1I); two paralateral depressions shallow, weakly rugose; lateral margin smooth and rounded in front but feebly crenulate behind. Elytra punctate and rugose, with lateral longitudinal ridge obsolete.

Abdomen coriaceous and covered with dense fine hairs, broadest at segment V. Sternite VII ( Fig. 7E) with posterior margin shortly produced in middle forming two close-neighbored teeth. Sternite VIII ( Fig. 7F) with subbasal ridge straight; posterior margin broad and with two V-shaped ruptures near middle, forming large and subrectangular median plate, apical margin of median plate slightly produced in middle. Tergite X ( Fig. 7G) longer than wide, posterior margin truncate with deep incision in middle, with two lines of setae on haired posterior part.

Aedeagus ( Figs. 7K–M). Median lobe oblong-ovoid, widest at middle; without any visible structures inside median lobe; apical orifice almost as large as median lobe width; apico-medial hook bifurcated in ventral view and bent at near base in lateral view, with apex flattened and narrower to tip; dorsal membranous area not covering all dorsum but almost across length of median lobe. Paramere horn-like, with seta on apical 1/3 of apical arm, with highlighted zone nearby; apex pointed, without furrow along basal arm.

Female. Head ( Fig. 7B) smaller than male. Vertex more convex, with mid-longitudinal suture present. Eyes convex and covering most of lateral plate of head. Pronotum wider than head. Mandible ( Fig. 7D) as long as in male but slenderer and sharper at apex.

Abdominal sternite VII with posterior margin straight and not modified. Sternite VIII ( Fig. 7G) with posterior margin broadly rounded. Tergite X ( Fig. 7I) scutiform, similar to male.

Spermatheca ( Fig. 7J) ʋ- shaped, basal portion lightly inflated.

Distribution. China (Beijing, Chongqing, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hainan, Hong Kong, Hubei, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Jilin, Liaoning, Shanghai, Sichuan, Taiwan, Yunnan, Zhejiang); Cosmopolitan.

Remarks. This species is small compared to other Oxytelus species and can be recognized by the deep and narrow incision in tergite X, which exhibits remarkable difference to discriminate the O. incisus and O. subincisus . Unlike many other Oxytelus species , the males and females of O. incisus do not show much difference in dorsal view.
