Note: Ross & Irvine (in Taxon 16: 185. 1967) noted the absence of any original material while Laundon (in Lichenologist 24: 344. 1992) suggested that the name might be applicable to material of mineral origin. The name is of uncertain application and may be a candidate for rejection (see Spencer & al. in Taxon, in press).
