Diagnosis. The female of N. collaris can be easily distinguished from N. currani and N. marstoni sp.nov. by the presence of a fringe of long and spatulate orange bristles on the occiput. From the males of N. marstoni sp. nov., the males of N. collaris can be separated by the lack of patches of silver scales on face, occiput and abdomen and by the lateral apodema of aedeagus, which are short and do not project beyond the margin of gonocoxite.

Description. Male. Body length: 4.20 – 5.20 mm. Wing length: 4.3 – 4.9 mm. Head. ( Fig. 2A) holoptic, with ommatidia on upper half much larger than below ( Figs. 2A; 4A); frons dark brown pollinose; oral margin polished light brown with dark brown pile all around; ocellar tubercle dark brown pollen, with long dark brown bristles; face polished dark brown, smoothly projecting, with dark brown bristles; gena polished, dark gray-brown pollinose with dark brown pile; antenna light gray-brown pollinose, scape twice as long as pedicel, with sparse dark brown bristles on upper surface, pedicel bare; flagellum twice as long as scape and pedicel together, stylus subapical; proboscis dark brown projecting beyond oral margin by 2 / 3 its length; palpus short and slender about 1 / 6 of proboscis length, dark brown with dark brown hairs; occiput dark brown pollinose, with dark brown bristles and a fringe of long spatulate dark brown bristles. Thorax. Mesonotum dark brown pollinose, with sparse dark brown hairs; scutellum dark brown pollinose with slender bristles on margin; post pronotal lobe with long dark brown bristles; notopleuron with strong dark brown bristles; supra alar callus with dark brown hairs; post alar callus with light brown hairs; pleura light gray-brown pollinose; anepisternum with slender dark brown bristles on upper half; metepisternum and laterotergite with dark brown bristles; katepisternum, anemiperon and meron bare; haltere light brown. Wing hyaline ( Fig. 4B); r-m crossvein at basal of discal cell and anal cell open on wing margin by the length of the r-m crossvein; R2+3 and R4 gently curved upward. Abdomen. Light brown polished with dark brown scales, tergites with sparse yellowish-white hairs, light brown on sternites, dark brown hairs laterally on all segments. Terminalia in lateral view ( Fig. 4C) with gonocoxite elongated with rounded apex; aedeagus with wide base; gonostylus robust, with pointed and hook shaped apex; in dorsal view ( Fig 4D); lateral aedeagal apodeme short, not surpassing gonocoxal margins; ejaculatory apodeme long, surpassing gonocoxal limits, aedeagus short, not surpassing the apex of posterior process of gonocoxite.

Female. similar to the male, except for: body length: 4.30–6.20 mm. Wing length: 4.00– 4.90 mm.
