Meitingsunes aldwelles sp. nov.

Description. FEMALE. Total body length of holotype 530 (570). Gnathosoma . Each transverse branch of peritremes with 1–2 chambers, each longitudinal branch with 4–6 chambers. Stylophore 200 (200–205) long. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield weakly sclerotized with indistinct margins, bearing bases of setae ve, si, se and c1, punctated laterally. Setae se and c1 situated at same transverse level or setae c1 located slightly anterior to level of setae se. Hysteronotal shield weakly sclerotized, fused to unornamented pygidial shield. Bases of setae d1 situated closer to d2 than to e1. Legs. Coxal fields distinctly sclerotized, not punctated. Apodemes I divergent, not fused to apodemes II. Length ratio of coxal fields I and II 1.2:1. Fan-like setae p’ and p” of legs III and IV with about 20 tines. MALE. Unknown.

Type material. Female holotype and 3 female paratypes ( AMU –SYR. 193) from a quill of Geotrygon frenata (Tschudi) ( Columbiformes : Columbidae ), COLOMBIA, Choco, 27 September 1909, coll. M.G. Palmer. All material is deposited at AMU.

Etymology. This new species Meitingsunes aldwelles sp. nov. is named in honor of Edward Aldwell, American pianist, music theorist and pedagogue, renowned for his recordings of J. S. Bach.

Differential diagnosis. This new species is closely related to M. zenadourae comb. nov. In females of both species, the transverse and longitudinal branches of peritremes have 1-2 and 4–6 chambers, respectively; the stylophore is lineal in shape and about 200 long. This new species is distinguished from M. zenadourae by the following characters: in females of M. aldwelles , the hysteronotal shield is represented by single sclerite fused to the pygidial shield; the length ratio of setae f1:h1 is 2:1. In females of M. zenadourae , the hysteronotal shield is represented by three fragments; the length ratio of setae f1:h1 is 1:1.
