Holotype (not known to exist; not present at HNHM [Z. Korsós, pers. comm.]); type locality: Trinidad .

Original rank: variety of S. subspinipes Leach, 1815 . Current rank and status: synonym of S. subspinipes ( Kraepelin 1903, Brölemann 1909, Attems 1930, Bücherl 1942 a).

Remarks: Scolopendra gracilipes Daday, 1891 , is a junior primary homonym of S. gracilipes Wood, 1861 , from Singapore, also considered a synonym of S. subspinipes ( Kraepelin 1903, Attems 1930). The name was omitted by Bücherl (1974).
