Diagnostic characters: P. navama differs from the other members of the subgroup except P. parinavama by having a well developed wing anal lobe, a sinuate Cu 1, and conspicuous microtrichia to apex of a parallel-sided anal point. From P. parinavama it differs by having no setae on R and R 4+5, at most 1 seta on R 1, and only 3–5 sensilla clavata at apex of the third palpomere.

Etymology: From the Latin navis, a ship, boat, and hamas, a hook, referring to the boat-hook- like shape of the inferior volsella.
