TYPE MATERIAL EXAMINED: Holotype ♂: [ Kenya, C., 40km of Mwingi , Nguni env., 27­ 28.XI.1999] ( RBINS).

DESCRIPTION.

♂: length: 9 mm, breadth: 4 mm; ratio LB/lB (n = 1): 1.73.

Laterally slightly convex, relatively elongate, dorsally flat, broader in middle of elytra; dorsum brownish; lateral sides of elytra with irregularly glabrous shining black patches; legs brownish except tibiae dorsally blackish; underside blackish brown.

Head (eye to eye) broad; clypeus rounded, covered with tubercles, with margin totally reflexed.

Antennae 10­ segmented, with club longer than funicle.

Pronotum rectangular, broader than long; ratio LP/lP (n = 1): 0.52; sides regularly rounded from base to apex, with all margins carinate; anterior angles not projecting and reaching posterior margin of eyes; strongly punctate.

Apex of scutellum rounded, punctate.

Elytra longer than broad; ratio LE/lE (n = 1): 1.36; epipleura complete; costae slightly elevated; intervals strongly punctate.

Humeral and apical calli marked.

Pygidium laterally rounded, carinate, projecting postero­ventrally, and surpassing apex of elytra.

Abdomen concave; short process at base of prosternum rounded.

Protibia tridentate, pro­and mesotarsal larger claw cleft; metatarsus with larger claw twice longer than outer one.

Dorsum totally covered with short, white, decumbent scales with some long isolated erected white setae on sides and lateral margin of elytra; short and not much visible tuft of white scales on top of humeral calli; ventrum covered with longer white, decumbent setae; long white erected setae on disc of pygidium; short decumbent white scales with a few erected white and yellowish setae on legs.

Aedeagus: parameres dorsally elongate and pointed, slightly furrowed at apex; laterally sinuate with curved thickening at apex.
