Annual plant. Leaves alternate. Flowers in narrow spiciform inflorescences, subtended by 2 carinate bracteoles; perianth lobes 3-5, free, the 3 outer ones with rudimentary wings; stamen l(-2); anthers with small appendages. Seeds vertical; embryo plano-spiral. One sp., O. mommdrum (Pallas) Moq. , W and C Asia.
