Type locality and specimens. Es lagen 6 Stück vor [6 specimens were avaliable], 18. und 19. Sept. am Djebel Tikut , Gipfel [Jabal T’Kut, peak] und Djebel Teghrinna [Jabal Taghrinnah] gesammelt .

Dimensions. Ein junges ♂ von 46 mm Länge mit 95 Beinpaaren zeigt die geringste Beinpaarzahl, ein junges ♀ von 44 mm und 107 Beinparen sowie ein erwachsenes ♀ von 126 mm mit 105 Beinpaaren die grösste. [A juvenile ♂, length 46 mm, 95 leg pairs (the lowest number of pairs). A juvenile ♀, length 44 mm, 107 leg pairs and an adult ♀, length 126 mm, 105 leg pairs (the largest numbers of pairs)] .

Type status. Verhoeff (1908) mentioned six specimens in his original description but only three syntypes are present at the ZMH. Additional syntypes are present at the ZSM ( CA Martínez-Muñoz, pers. com.)

Old type catalogue. Weidner (1960), p. 63, No. 25. Paratypes (number not specified).

Collection remarks. The type locality “Djebel T’Kut, Gipfel” is uncertain and may refer to a mountain peak in the Gharyan Distirct south of Tripoli. The specimens were collected by the Austrian zoologist Bruno Klaptocz (1882–1908) during his expedition to Tripoli and Barka 1906 .

Additional remarks. Weidner (1960: 63) noted that the specimens were purchased from Verhoeff.

Current systematic position. Junior synonym of Orya barbarica (Gervais, 1835) according to Attems (1929: 110).
