Remarks
Here we report the first observation of this species in Sicily, sampled among reeds near a small torrent fed by a natural spring, tens of metres from the coastline. The species appears to be absent in southern Italy. It is an anthropophilic species, probably dispersed by man in many areas (e.g. Canada, United States, Mexico and Argentina; Schmalfuss 2003). Descriptions and illustrations of this well-known species can be found elsewhere ( Vandel 1960).
