Fedrizzia bornemisszai Womersley

Fedrizzia bornemisszai Womersley, 1959: 26 .

Type specimens. Holotype, F, AUSTRALIA: Queensland: Hampton, 8.xi.1956, G. F. Bornemissza, under a eucalyptus log (N1952278). In SAMA. Paratypes, F, 2 M, same data as holotype (N1952279-N1952281). In SAMA.

Other specimens. AUSTRALIA: Queensland: F, M, Windsor, 35 km NNW of Mt Carbine, 15– 18.iv.1982, G. Monteith & D. Yeates, on Analaches sp. (S74020-21); F, Curtain Fig, Atherton Tableland, 6.iv.1995, D. E. Walter, on Mastachilus australasicus (Percheron) ( S74022 View Materials ); F, 9 km south of Ravenshoe, Atherton Tableland, 29.i.1996, O. Seeman, on Aulacocyclus sp. ( S74023 View Materials ); M, 30 km NE of Coen, McIlwraith Range, Leo Ck Rd, 29.vi – 4.vii.1976, G. B. & J. B. Monteith, on passalid beetle, possibly Gonatus sp. (S74024). All specimens deposited in QM.

Diagnosis. Both sexes: idiosoma 930–970 long, with 4–6 large pores; ventral shield with mesh-like pattern; marginal and ventrianal shields with lineate reticulations; anterolateral corner of ventrianal shield fused with ventral shield; exopodal patterning between CxII–III spotted; pedofossae III absent; CxIV-marginal suture absent; femur III and IV without lamellae, seta pv1 not significantly thickened; femur IV elongated; seta h1 unmodified. Female: setae st2-4 6–8 long; lyrifissure stp2 level with stp x; sternogynial shield reticulate, but not honeycomb-like, flanked by several pores, not surrounded by a distinct smooth area. Male: sternoventral shield with suture behind genital opening demarking anterior smooth and posterior reticulated areas; genital opening not flanked by pores; seta h3 positioned posterior of h2.

Remarks. The holotype and paratypes are in poor condition or ruined. This species was collected from Analaches , Aulacocyclus , and Mastachilus . Fedrizzia bornemisszai is very similar to F. d e r r i c k i and I have tentatively retained this species on the basis of its larger ventrianal shield (406 wide) and smaller sternal setae.
